We meet monthly (second Tuesday of each month) to plan for and discuss community activities. Each month speakers are invited to discuss issues that affect women—HIV/AIDS, battered women, and run away girls in Kenya, to name a few. These meetings provide members with the information they need to address community issues, and provide the support needed to sustain women in our county, state, nation and the rest of the world. There is a monthly newsletter that is circulated that provides our membership with information on our international, district and local activities.

The Zonta Club of Essex County also embraces Zonta International’s work to advance the status of women by:

• Leading advocacy efforts and acting to improve the status of women
• Promoting strategies to eradicate violence against women and children
• Funding scholarships and awards for women of exceptional ability and talent
• Supporting programs aimed at improving women’s health, safety and economic and political status
• Encouraging mentorship, friendship and networking among membership.
